TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Eiffel Tower in Paris announced on its official website on Saturday, July 11, 2026, that the tourist site will close early on Saturday and Sunday, July 12, at 4:00 p.m. local time (9:00 p.m. Western Indonesian Time) due to the rising temperatures from the heat wave that hit Europe, instead of its usual operating hours until 12:45 a.m. (5:45 a.m. Western Indonesian Time) the following day.
Meanwhile, the Louvre Museum and the Orsay Museum in Paris have also shortened their operating hours. The Louvre Museum will close at 4:00 p.m. (9:00 p.m. Western Indonesian Time) until July 13, while the Orsay Museum will close at 5:00 p.m. (10:00 p.m. Western Indonesian Time) until July 15.
According to French media reports, as cited by Antara, about a quarter of the country is currently under red alert due to extreme heat.
Meteo-France predicts the highest temperature in Paris will reach 36 degrees Celsius on Saturday, while temperatures in several other parts of the country are expected to reach 39 to 40 degrees Celsius. The current heat wave is expected to continue until the middle of next week.
