TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metro Police have arrested the alleged perpetrator of the bomb threat at Srengseng Sawah 15 Elementary School (SDN) Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on Monday, identified as MY.
"The terror attack, involving one perpetrator with the initials MY, has been apprehended near the school," said the Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metrop Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, when met in Jakarta on Monday.
However, Budi said investigators are still working to determine the suspect's identity and motive.
"Investigators are still investigating the perpetrator's goals and motives," he said.
Previously, the police had identified the alleged perpetrator of the bombing threat at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on Monday.
MY sent WhatsApp messages to teachers and administrative staff. "We have the suspect's identity, the suspect of the terror attack," Jagakarsa Police Chief Commissioner Nurma Dewi told reporters in Jakarta on Monday.
Nurma said that in the WhatsApp terror message, the attacker said to have planted bombs at 11 locations within the school.
Teachers immediately contacted the police to secure the premises. The school was having its first day after a long end-of-school break.
"Yes, so everything was automatic. Here, members of the Inafis, Fire Department, sub-district head, village head, Health Department, and Education Department came to the elementary school to ensure the safety of the children, as well as the parents," Nurma said.
To date, her team has confirmed that they have not found any suspicious objects during the two-hour-long search.
