TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The was no Indonesian victim in the fire incident in Lat Phrao, Bangkok, Thailand, on July 12, 2026, the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed.

"Based on coordination between the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok and the police, hospitals, and local authorities, there has been no information on any Indonesian citizens who perished or were injured in the incident," said Heni Hamidah, the ministry's director of Indonesian Citizen Protection, in a written statement in Jakarta on Monday, July 13.

According to Heni, Thai authorities have reported 27 fatalities and 63 other injured in the fire.

The Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok, she added, is working closely with Thai authorities to monitor the situation. The embassy also stands ready to assist Indonesians affected by the fire incident, if any.

Previously, Anadolu reported a fire broke out at a crowded pub in Bangkok's Chatuchak district, leaving 27 dead, and 63 injured, including 22 who were in critical conditions.

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said most of the victims died of smoke inhalation after

"smoke from a circuit breaker near the stage, followed by a power outage and an explosion."

"Most of the victims ran to the back, to toilets with no exit, probably because of panic caused by the fire and smoke," he told reporters.

Police said the fire was brought under control about two hours after it broke out. According to Thai PBS World, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
