TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to give direction at the peak event of the 79th National Cooperative Day (Harkopnas) today, Sunday, July 12, 2026. The agenda will be held at Indonesia Arena, Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Complex, Jakarta.
Cooperative Minister Ferry Juliantono explained that this year's commemoration marks the beginning of the cooperative movement as village cooperatives enter the operational phase.
Ferry stated that President Prabowo's presence emphasizes the government's commitment to strengthening the cooperative movement as a pillar of national economic development. "On July 12, Insha Allah the President will be present to commemorate National Cooperative Day at GBK," Ferry said on Friday, July 10, 2026, as reported by Antara.
The Red-and-White Village Cooperative project is one of the government's strategic programs implemented based on Presidential Instruction Number 9 of 2025, which concerns the Acceleration of the Establishment of Red-and-White Village Cooperatives. The policy aims to accelerate the growth of 80,000 cooperatives throughout Indonesia by establishing, developing, and revitalizing them gradually.
Ferry Juliantono said that around 30,000 Red-and-White Village Cooperatives have been formed. Meanwhile, the government aims to reach a target of around 40,000 units by the end of the year.
