Shock 'extortion' claims emerge after pro boxer and influencer Stefi Cohen's arrest on domestic violence charges

Stefi Cohen is the victim of 'extortion' and 'abuse' at the hands of an illegal immigrant, her boyfriend Tristan Hamm has claimed after a domestic violence charge against the professional boxer and influencer was dropped.

Cohen - full name Stefanie Cohen Magarici - was arrested on July 2 amid allegations she assaulted her boyfriend at their Miami-area home.

But on Wednesday, TMZ reported that prosecutors dismissed the case after Hamm refused to cooperate. And he told TMZ that Cohen is, in fact, the victim of a 'bigger' crime.

'This was a complete misunderstanding, neither party called the police, and yet an arrest was made,' Hamm said.

'What’s really happening here is bigger: Stefanie is being extorted by an illegal immigrant who defrauded her and her employees for years and is now manipulating the legal system to continue that abuse.

'This arrest only gained traction because of two bogus cases tied to the same individual, which distorted the perception of the officers. She’s innocent, plain and simple. Her case being dismissed today is proof of this.

The 33-year-old influencer was arrested for alleged domestic violence earlier this month

'What we’re dealing with is a calculated scheme to defame her and defraud her as well as the media and millions of Americans in an attempt to cover up his immigration and financial scheme. And it’s finally coming to light.'

Hamm - an influencer-turned-boxer - did not provide more specific details on the alleged extortion or abuse in his statement on Wednesday.

But, according to TMZ, prosecutors said Hamm denied time and again that a battery had occurred and also confirmed that no one was 'forcing' or 'threatening' him to drop the charges.

TMZ also quoted an internal memo in which prosecutors explained why the domestic violence case had been dropped.

'In order to prove this crime, the State must show that the defendant actually and intentionally touched or struck the victim against his will,' it read.

'The State is unable to satisfy this element without a testifying victim or witness. There are no other known witnesses or evidence to this case. As such, the State does not have a good faith basis upon which to file charges and took no action at arraignment on 7.23.25.'

But the extortion claims mark a shock twist in the case. Only a couple of weeks ago, reports detailed apparently conflicting stories about the alleged altercation.

TMZ said at the time that the alleged victim informed officers that the pair were arguing over their relationship when he discovered that Cohen 'was recording their conversation with her computer'.

She has been dating Tristan Hamm, also a boxer and influencer, over the past 18 months

Hamm insisted 'this was a complete misunderstanding' and that neither of them called cops

The man told officers he then grabbed his phone and put it in his pocket before Cohen got physical with him - scratching him on his neck and chest and tearing his pants pocket in an attempt to get at the device.

Cohen allegedly said she thought that he had grabbed her phone instead. It was also claimed that she had accused her boyfriend of striking her with a closed fist and scratching her on her face.

But according to court documents, quoted by TMZ, 'based on the fact that the victim in this case is a professional fighter and the allegations made by the defendant claim that she was struck by him with a closed first, there is no physical evidence of injuries on the defendant [Cohen] that supports her allegations.'

Police added: 'The victim in this case had injuries consistent with his statement regarding what occurred with the defendant.'

Cohen, who has a professional boxing record of 4-1-1, was eventually detained and charged with domestic violence battery.

It wasn't her first run-in with the law. Cohen was arrested last year on a charge of sexual cyberharassment.

The Venezuela native allegedly accessed the ex in question's computer by trying commonly-used passwords, before accessing his iCloud - where she found several nude images of his new girlfriend and posted them to a group chat she was part of, according to court documents seen by NBC Miami.

He had reportedly left the computer behind when he left the home they shared in March 2022.

Last year she was charged with sexual cyber-harassment after allegedly hacking into her ex-boyfriend's laptop and leaking nude photos of his new lover (2024 mug shot above)

According to Men's Health, she holds the all-time world records for the squat, total, and deadlift for the 123-pound weight class

The alleged victim contacted police in November 2023, saying Cohen told her she was sending the images 'with the purpose of exposing and humiliating her.'

Cohen was arrested at her Coconut Grove home and taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. She was later released after posting a $3,300 bond and ordered to stay away from her ex and his new partner.

According to Men's Health, Cohen holds the all-time world records for the squat, total, and deadlift for the 123-pound weight class.

She has had six professional boxing fights to date, winning four of them and losing one while drawing the other.
