TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - AirNav Indonesia stated that six airports previously affected by volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau have resumed operations, effective from 00.00 WIB (Western Indonesia Time) on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
“Meanwhile, three other airports are still closed,” said the EVP of Corporate Secretary at Airnav Indonesia, Hermana Soegijantoro, on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
The six airports that have reopened and resumed operations are Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (WIII), Halim Perdanakusuma Airport (WIHH), and Husein Sastranegara Airport (WICC). Based on the latest aeronautical information update issued by AirNav Indonesia via the latest NOTAM, three other airports remain closed until 10:00 a.m. WIB, namely Radin Inten II Airport (WILL), Lampung, Muhammad Taufiq Kiemas Airport (WILP), and Salakanagara Tanjung Lesung Airport (WIHI), Pandeglang.
Here are the details of the operational status of the affected airports based on the latest NOTAM (Notice to Air Missions) updates:
- Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (WIII) has resumed OPEN AND RESUMED OPERATIONS according to NOTAM A3395/26 NOTAMR A3387/26, effective from 00.30 WIB on September 8, 2026. The NOTAM reminded pilots that volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau remains in the FIR and that they should exercise caution during arrival and departure.
- Halim Perdanakusuma Airport (WIHH) has resumed OPEN according to NOTAM A3396/26 NOTAMR A3386/26, effective from 00.40 WIB on September 8, 2026.
- Husein Sastranegara Airport (WICC), Bandung, has resumed OPEN according to NOTAM C1123/26 NOTAMR C1116/26, effective from 00.42 WIB on September 8, 2026.
- Budiarto Airport (WIRR), Tangerang, has resumed OPEN according to NOTAM C1126/26 NOTAMR C1115/26, effective from 01.25 WIB on September 8, 2026.
- Pondok Cabe Airport (WIHP), South Tangerang, has resumed OPEN according to NOTAM C1127/26 NOTAMR C1118/26, effective from 01.28 WIB on September 8, 2026.
- Pagar Alam/Atung Bungsu Airport (WIPY), Pagar Alam, had previously resumed OPEN according to NOTAM C1107/26 NOTAMC C1105/26, effective from 08.12 WIB on September 7, 2026.
- Radin Inten II Airport (WILL), Lampung, remains CLOSED until the estimated time of 10.00 WIB on September 8, 2026.
- Muhammad Taufiq Kiemas Airport (WILP) remains CLOSED until 10.00 WIB on September 8, 2026.
- Salakanagara Tanjung Lesung Airport (WIHI), Pandeglang, remains CLOSED until an estimated time of 10.00 WIB on September 8, 2026.
Hermana stated that the issuance of the NOTAM refers to changes in the ash dispersion that have affected flight operations. Based on the latest safety evaluations and aeronautical information, several airports can now resume operations.
Additionally, the monitoring process includes observing the results of periodic volcanic ash tests conducted on September 7, 2026, at affected airport locations.
AirNav Indonesia continues to monitor volcanic activity and ash dispersion, coordinating with aviation regulators and stakeholders. “Aeronautical information updates will continue to be made according to the developments and safety evaluation results in aviation,” said Hermana.
