Top ESPN announcer Joe Buck faces major personal conflict for network's first-ever Super Bowl

When Joe Buck puts on his headset to call Super Bowl LXI in Los Angeles this February, half his mind will be on the opposite side of the country.

In an appearance on The Traina Thoughts Podcast on Wednesday, the sportscaster revealed his daughter, Natalie, is expected to give birth on the day of the big game.

Buck, 57, is expected to call the game for ESPN - the first time the network will ever broadcast the Super Bowl.

'My daughter Natalie is due on Super Bowl Sunday,' Buck told longtime sports media reporter Jimmy Traina.

Buck then referred to himself in the third-person, saying, 'Jack Buck's son, the little boy that was doing the World Series in 1996, his daughter is due on Super Bowl Sunday, yes.'

Joe is the father of four children. In addition to Natalie, he has another adult daughter, Trudy, in his past relationship with ex-wife Ann Archambault.

The couple split in 2011, with Buck then marrying former Broncos cheerleader and current ESPN reporter Michelle Beisner in April 2014.

Joe has two sons with Beisner, twin eight-year-olds Wyatt and Blake. While the broadcaster looks forward to becoming a grandfather for the first time, his twins will also earn new titles.

'I've got eight-year-old twin boys. They're going to be eight-year-old uncles,' Joe shared with a laugh. 'Uncle Blake and Uncle Wyatt, we can get in the sandbox together at some point. But yeah, it's kind of nuts.'

With the news of the impending arrival, Buck has new meaning in the timeline leading to the Big Game on February 14: 'Every countdown clock that I see at ESPN, while everyone else was going "Man, we got Super Bowl LXI!" That's my countdown clock to being a grandpa.' 

Buck stressed that he will be in California for the Super Bowl if Natalie gives birth before her due date, saying, 'I'm not delivering the child, I'm not the husband, I'm certainly not the one giving birth. My presence is not needed.'

However, even if Natalie is giving birth during the game, Buck said: 'I am going to want to get every update humanly possible. I will not be distracted, but I will have part of my heart in New York waiting to hear the news.'

This is not the first time that Buck has had to deal with this as his second daughter was due while he was at the 1999 MLB All-Star Game. 

'I will just send my prayers and love, and then I will be there the next day,' Buck added.
