TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - AirAsia has once again been named the World's Best Low-Cost Airline for the 17th consecutive time at the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards.
In a statement on Friday, AirAsia Co-Founder Datuk Kamarudin Meranun said the award holds special significance as it coincides with the celebration of the airline's 25-year journey in providing increasingly broad and affordable air travel access to the public
"This recognition from Skytrax reflects the trust passengers have placed in AirAsia, and it is something we never take for granted," said Kamarudin, as quoted by ANTARA.
The Skytrax World Airline Awards are among the most respected awards in the global aviation industry. This award is based on the results of the annual World Airline Survey. Conducted independently, the survey reflects the assessments of passengers from various countries.
Bo Lingam, CEO of AirAsia Group, said the award reflects passengers' confidence amid uncertainty and geopolitical challenges facing the aviation industry. As AirAsia expands across ASEAN and other regions, the airline will continue working to connect more people and destinations while maintaining its commitment to earning passengers’ trust on every journey, he added.
Meanwhile, Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted said AirAsia’s 17th win shows the airline’s consistent delivery of quality, affordable air travel. He added that the award reflects AirAsia’s performance in the highly competitive and evolving low-cost airline industry.
