TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Belgian government announced a ban on imports of products originating from the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories.
According to the Belgian News Agency (Belga), as cited by Antara, the federal government discussed imports from the occupied Palestinian territories in a cabinet meeting before deciding on the ban.
Belga reported that the meeting lasted until early Saturday morning, and the import ban was approved as part of the cabinet's final decision before the summer recess.
This decision comes after the European Union recently issued a directive aimed at enforcing a 2004 ruling on products from Israeli-occupied territories.
The ruling determined that a number of products produced in colonies in the West Bank and the occupied Syrian Golan Heights do not meet customs exemption requirements.
