TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) warned of extreme rain in several regions across Indonesia on Friday, April 24, 2026.
According to a post on the BMKG Instagram account (@infobmkg), heavy to very heavy rain is expected to fall in North Sumatra, South Sumatra, West Java, Maluku, and Papua.
For western Indonesia, BMKG predicts the potential for thunderstorms in Palembang, while moderate rain is expected in Serang and Bandung.
Meanwhile, light rain is forecast for Aceh, Medan, Pekanbaru, Tanjung Pinang, Padang, Jambi, Bengkulu, Bandar Lampung, Jakarta, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Pontianak, and Tanjung Selor.
In addition, cloudy weather is forecast for Palangkaraya, Banjarmasin, and Pangkal Pinang, with the potential for hazy air in Samarinda.
In eastern Indonesia, moderate rain is likely in Merauke.
Meanwhile, light rain is forecast for Denpasar, Mataram, Kupang, Makassar, Mamuju, Gorontalo, Ternate, Ambon, Sorong, Nabire, Jayapura, and Jayawijaya.
The BMKG also predicts thick clouds covering Kendari and Manado, with the potential for hazy air in Palu and Manokwari.
