TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Borussia Dortmund advanced to the second round of the German Cup after defeating Hamburg-Eisbutteler BC (HEBC) 5-0 at the Volkspark Stadium in Hamburg on Tuesday, local time.
According to DFB-Pokal records as cited by Antara, Dortmund secured the victory over HEBC thanks to goals from Janek Wrede (own goal), Daniel Svensson, Samuele Inacio (two goals), and Fabio Silva.
With this result, Borussia Dortmund confirmed their place in the second round of the German Cup; the draw for the next round is scheduled for Saturday (September 5, local time) and will be conducted by Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Dortmund took the initiative to attack right from the start of the match, though their initial efforts did not yield a goal.
The visitors finally broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute when HEBC defender Janek Wrede scored an own goal, giving Dortmund a 1-0 lead.
Just three minutes later, Dortmund doubled their advantage; Daniel Svensson scored after receiving a pass from Julian Ryerson, making it 2-0.
Dortmund did not let up and extended their lead to 3-0 in the 41st minute, with Samuele Inacio converting a pass from Marcel Sabitzer into a goal.
Towards the end of the first half, Inacio scored his second goal of the match—capitalizing on a pass from Ryerson—to bring the score to 4-0 in stoppage time (45+2 minutes).
In the second half, Dortmund further extended their lead when Fabio Silva scored in the 59th minute following a pass from Joey Veerman, making it 5-0.
Borussia Dortmund continued to dominate the match for the remainder of the game, but the scoreline remained 5-0 in favor of Niko Kovac's squad until the final whistle.
