College football's hottest quarterback apologizes after his behavior in post-game interview sparked backlash

Trinidad Chambliss is the hottest quarterback in college football right now having guided Ole Miss to a 3-0 start and skyrocketed to the top of the early Heisman Trophy odds.

But he felt compelled to issue a public apology after letting his emotions get the better of him in his post-game interview after a massive win over LSU.

The Rebels held on to beat Lane Kiffin's Tigers in one of college football's most anticipated and emotionally charged games in years in Oxford, Mississippi on Saturday.

Chambliss threw for 363 yards and two touchdowns as Ole Miss won 32-24 against his old head coach Kiffin. 

Man of the moment Chambliss was interviewed on the field immediately after the game by ESPN reporter Holly Rowe and praised God but faced backlash for then cursing at the end of the conversation. 

'I just trust in God. I trust in my preparation as well. We worked our butts off this whole week and this whole year, and it's just go and do it,' Chambliss told Rowe, who then thanked him for the interview. 

'Thank you so much. Hotty [expletive] toddy!' he shouted before rushing away from the interview to celebrate with teammates.

After facing backlash for his language on live TV, Chambliss apologized when he spoke to the media on Sunday.  

'Emotions were high,' he said. 'That's the best play in football, you know, being in victory formation. 

'But yeah, my emotions were high after the game. I got kind of caught up in the moment with the interview. 

'That's not who I am, so I deeply, I'm deeply apologetic to Holly Rowe and, you know, everyone out there who was listening. That's not who I am.'

It is the second week in a row that Holly Rowe has received a public apology after a post-game interview from college football's marquee matchup.

The previous week, Texas upset Ohio State only for Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian to blow off their interview.

The following day, quarterback Arch Manning made light of a violent AI edit of the exchange.  

'I've seen a few AI edits and stuff,' Manning said. 'I saw an AI edit of Sark's interview. Have y'all seen that one? That's a good one… of him slapping Holly Rowe. Yeah. That's hilarious.'

After receiving huge backlash, he issued a statement online apologizing to Rowe, who he also reached out to directly.  

'In my press conference yesterday, I made an insensitive comment about an AI video. There is nothing funny about it,' Manning wrote on Instagram. 

'It's easy to say I didn't mean it, but I know my words and actions were hurtful to a lot of people. I do not take that lightly and am deeply sorry for that.

'I specifically want to apologize to Holly Rowe for what she has personally had to deal with because of my comments. I have a ton of respect for her and appreciate her showing me grace in this moment. I need to be better and will be more thoughtful moving forward.'
