TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - German national team coach Julian Nagelsmann is confident his current squad can make a big impact at the 2026 World Cup.
The former Bayern Munich coach is confident that the 26 players he has brought with him form a unit that can work well together.
"The most important point is that we’re convinced this is the best team and one that will work well together as a group," Nagelsmann said on Thursday, as quoted on the DFB website, cited ANTARA.
On Thursday, May 21, Nagelsmann announced the 26 players he will take to the 2026 World Cup. Manuel Neuer is among those called up. He has been brought back after announcing his retirement from international football in 2024.
Neuer is certainly in the spotlight, considering his position will likely take over the main goalkeeper position previously held by Oliver Baumann.
Besides Neuer, regulars in the German squad remain in the squad. These include Joshua Kimmich, Jonathan Tah, Antonio Rudiger, David Raum, Florian Wirtz, Kai Havertz, and Jamal Musiala. Nagelsmann also called up new players such as Lennart Karl.
“We have a few new players with us, as well as others who have been involved for a long time,” said Nagelsmann.
"Working with this team is incredibly enjoyable, and every player has earned his place, both on and off the pitch," added the 38-year-old coach.
The Panzer team at the 2026 World Cup is in Group E along with Curacao, the Ivory Coast, and Ecuador.
