TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the Indonesian National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Sudaryono emphasized his commitment to integrity and accountability in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, assuring the public that he has no ownership stake in program kitchens.
He distanced himself from ownership of MBG kitchens, officially known as nutrition fulfillment service units (SPPGs), pledging efforts to prevent corruption and avoid conflicts of interest in the program’s implementation.
“No, no, no, neither I nor my family members own SPPGs; we do not own any kitchens,” Sudaryono told the press after being sworn in by President Prabowo Subianto at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He acknowledged that MBG is a national priority program carrying a substantial budget for nationwide coverage, characteristics he deemed requiring transparent and accountable management to sustain public trust.
The new BGN chief stressed that he has “zero tolerance for corrupt practices” and reassured the public of his commitment to serving “to the best of my ability in the cleanest manner possible.”
Sudaryono also encouraged citizens not to hesitate to report any misuse of his name for illicit practices, such as soliciting rewards or offering services related to the program.
He pledged not to provide preferential treatment to his family members, friends, or colleagues in matters concerning the BGN or its flagship program.
“I want problems and issues to be resolved or followed up according to applicable mechanisms and systems,” he affirmed.
He went on to emphasize the importance of enforcing transparency and public access to problem-solving processes.
Previously serving as deputy agriculture minister, Sudaryono replaced Nanink Sudaryati Deyang, who resigned as head of the BGN due to health reasons earlier in the day.
Deyang had led the agency for less than two months after succeeding Dadan Hindayana following his arrest in early June 2026 on graft allegations, including accusations that he operated SPPGs through a foundation linked to him.
