Rapper Kanye West, also known as Ye, has canceled his performance at the Pulse of Gaia festival at the RCF Arena in Reggio Emilia, Italy, on July 18, 2026.
According to a report by The Guardian on Saturday, May 30, 2026 the Reggio Emilia City Government canceled the 48-year-old American rapper's performance following "concerns" from the local Jewish community due to his previous statements.
The Reggio Emilia City Government also canceled American rapper Travis Scott's performance at the Hellwatt festival at the same venue on July 17, 2026.
A translation of a statement issued by the Reggio Emilia City Government stated that the ban on the two rappers' performances was based on an assessment conducted during a committee meeting and further investigation into safety and security aspects.
"TThe decision concerns two events scheduled for consecutive dates at the RCF Arena, a venue with a capacity of approximately 103,000 spectators, and was made to ensure public order and safety..." the statement from the Reggio Emilia City Government read.
According to the city government, the decision was also made considering Ye's history of previous concert cancellations in other countries.
Kanye West's April 2026 show in Marseille, France, was postponed after his visa application to the UK was denied, preventing him from headlining the Wireless London festival.
The issue arose after Ye drew criticism for making statements deemed anti-Semitic, releasing a song titled "Heil Hitler" in 2025, and advertising a T-shirt featuring a swastika.
In January 2026, he took out a full-page advertisement in the Wall Street Journal apologizing, titled "To Those I've Hurt."
In the ad, he wrote, among other things: "I am not a Nazi or an anti-Semite. I love Jewish people."
Meanwhile, Travis Scott continues to face public criticism following the tragedy at the Astroworld festival in 2021, which left 10 people dead.
