JYP Entertainment Apologizes for DAY6 Concert Chaos in Jakarta

4 hours ago 10

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The agency behind the band DAY6, JYP Entertainment issued a formal apology on Sunday, May 4, 2025, a day after chaos broke out during the DAY6 3RD WORLD TOUR FOREVER YOUNG concert at Madya Stadium, Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta. In a statement uploaded through the platform X (formerly Twitter), the South Korean agency regretted the poor coordination with the local promoter, Mecimapro.

"First and foremost, we sincerely apologize to all DAY6 fans for the concerns raised," wrote JYP. They acknowledged shortcomings in handling the DAY6 concert, especially regarding coordination with the local promoter and managing the situation during bad weather.

"Unfortunately, due to complications in coordinating with the local promoter and poor management in handling the situation, inadequate response and lack of safety measures occurred during the bad weather," they wrote. According to JYP, these factors caused delays in the soundcheck session and DAY6's main performance.

JYP then apologized for the discomfort experienced by the audience and affirmed its commitment to a thorough evaluation. "We promise to do everything we can to ensure that our artists can focus on their performances under the best conditions, and to ensure that fans enjoy future concerts comfortably and safely," they wrote.

Issues with the Venue, Tickets, and Refund Demands for the DAY6 Concert

This apology comes after various issues and protests dominated social media. Even before the concert took place, My Day (the name for DAY6 fans) had already expressed dissatisfaction following the announcement of a change in the concert venue from Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) to Madya Stadium.

Madya Stadium has a much smaller capacity than JIS, but this change was not accompanied by an adjustment in ticket prices. Instead, the audience's seating plan underwent changes in several categories without an option for refunds for those who felt disadvantaged. The problems persisted until two days before the event. The ticket sales platform, tiket.com, admitted that it had not received seat numbers and queues from the promoter.

Bad Weather and Lack of Crowd Management

The chaos reached its peak on the concert day, Saturday, May 3, 2025. Heavy rain and strong winds lashed Jakarta in the late afternoon. Audience members who arrived early for the soundcheck session were forced to wait for hours outside the stadium without adequate protection. There was no adequate crowd control, and most of the audience area had no proper shelter.

Furthermore, one large black tent used as a shelter collapsed under the weight of the rain. In several videos circulated on social media, the torn tent roof and water rushing to the ground were visible. Several other incidents occurred, such as fallen signboards due to the wind, electrical short circuits, a malfunctioning DAY6 musical instrument, and complaints about expired snacks. The concert was delayed and only started around 8:30 PM WIB.

Promoter's Silence, Comment Section Closed

Amid harsh criticism from fans, the promoter Mecimapro has yet to issue an apology or an official statement regarding the chaos. Furthermore, their Instagram comment section has been closed since Saturday night. The latest statement released was the announcement of the concert's postponement through X at 7:00 PM WIB.

"Due to the weather conditions, the concert will be postponed. We are currently doing final preparations and will soon start the show. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation. We hope you enjoy the concert and always prioritize safety!"

Although the show went on, fans continue to urge Mecimapro to provide an official response to this incident. For fans, the chaos at the concert is not just about the weather, but a culmination of poor communication, inadequate planning, and a lack of concern for audience safety.
