Lars Ulrich on Performing 72 Seasons Live

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich previously discussed the band's experience performing songs from 72 Seasons on stage in an October 2023 interview with Rolling Stone, several months after the M72 Tour began.

“Playing these songs live is super fun,” Ulrich said, specifically referring to “Lux Æterna” and “Too Far Gone?”, as cited by Rolling Stone.

“We’re steering them, they’re not steering us,” he added.

Ulrich said the band had performed eight of the album's 12 songs at the time and had worked out how to perform each one effectively in a live setting. The number has since increased to nine of the 12 songs.

72 Seasons, released in April 2023, takes its title from the first 18 years of a person's life. Rolling Stone praised the album in its review, describing it as containing “some of the deepest, hardest-hitting music of their career.”

The newly announced shows will add another leg to Metallica's M72 World Tour, which has continued since the release of 72 Seasons.
