TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - City-owned public transportation operator PT MRT Jakarta announced that construction on contract package CP201 of MRT Jakarta Phase 2A, which covers Thamrin and Monas stations, has reached roughly 92 percent and is closing in on 93 percent. Both stations are targeted for completion and commercial operation by the end of 2027.
Construction Director of PT MRT Jakarta Weni Maulina stated that development is progressing on schedule. "Alhamdulillah, for Monas Station under package CP201, progress has reached 92 percent and is moving toward 93 percent," Weni said after inspecting the project site in the Monas area, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, July 22, 2026.
According to Weni, the primary challenge in constructing package CP201 stems from relatively soft soil conditions along the corridor connecting Bundaran HI (HI Roundabout) to Monas. Nevertheless, engineers have overcome these technical hurdles, allowing work at Thamrin and Monas stations to proceed on target.
Currently, MRT Jakarta is prioritizing the completion of station structures, including mechanical and electrical installations as well as architectural finishing. This stage represents the final leg before both stations enter the testing and operational preparation phase.
Weni reiterated that MRT Jakarta aims to wrap up construction and initiate operations for both stations by late 2027. The launch of Thamrin and Monas stations will expand the MRT network by two stops as part of the broader Phase 2A development connecting Bundaran HI to Kota.
