TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Nanik Sudaryati Deyang has just announced her resignation as the Head of the Indonesian National Nutrition Agency (BGN). She made the announcement through her Facebook account on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
In her post, Nanik S. Deyang cited health reasons as the cause for her resignation. She stated, "With a heavy heart, I bid farewell to Mr. President to undergo treatment abroad for my heart, and I plan to depart today," she said in her post.
She mentioned that her decision to seek medical treatment abroad was not due to a lack of trust in Indonesian doctors. She explained that this choice was for a second opinion and to follow a colleague's recommendation regarding healthcare facilities in the respective country.
Nanik stated that President Prabowo has approved her decision to resign. She mentioned that the head of state is concerned about her and is considering her health. "However, I was asked to continue overseeing the National Nutrition Body," Nanik said.
She mentioned that the president will establish a Supervisory Board for the National Nutrition Body. Nanik is prepared to be the chairwoman of the supervisory board. "I can still keep an eye on things, as long as it does not involve handling money, I swear I have acute trauma," she said, accompanied by a smiling emoji.
Furthermore, she expressed her desire to continue supporting Prabowo in the effort to improve people's lives through the free nutritious meal project. Nanik claimed that Prabowo's priority program is not intended for political purposes.
In her post, Nanik also revealed information about her replacement as the Head of the National Nutrition Body. According to her, the person in question is already considered as her sibling. "I can give a telling-off if anything deviates," she said.
Tempo attempted to reach out to Nanik via her WhatsApp number, as well as to the Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) and spokesperson Agustina Arumsari. However, there has been no response from either of them at the time of writing this article.
