TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Chair of the Gerindra Party, Habiburokhman, jokingly remarked that President Prabowo Subianto possesses a "sixth sense" that most people lack. This so-called sixth sense, he explained, grants Prabowo insight into individuals attempting betrayal.
"Pak Prabowo has a sixth sense. When there's mischief, he immediately knows," Habiburokhman said during a cross-generational activists conference themed "From Political Democracy to Economic Democracy Transformation" at the JS Luwansa Hotel in South Jakarta on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.
Therefore, he continued, one should never attempt to betray Prabowo, as the former Commander of the Special Forces Command is not easily deceived. "It's hard to try to deceive Pak Prabowo," added the Chairperson of DPR Commission III.
Habiburokhman's statement was a response to academician Rocky Gerung, who had mentioned discomfort within the Red and White Cabinet. Rocky explained that this discomfort arose from the implementation of budget efficiency policies across all ministries and agencies in Prabowo's government.
According to Rocky, this policy pressures cabinet ministers, as it limits their opportunities to maneuver budget funds for personal or group interests.
"That's why I urge Prabowo to reshuffle [cabinet], to fill the cabinet with new energy if he wants to transform into economic democracy," Rocky asserted during the same event.
However, Habiburokhman countered that a reshuffle is Prabowo's prerogative as President and is undertaken with numerous considerations, not merely due to pressure from certain parties or groups. "He knows how to manage resources in the cabinet. Pak Prabowo's strategy is good; don't underestimate it," he said.
This discussion brought together cross-generational activists in commemoration of the 27th anniversary of the Reformation. The coordinator of the discussion, Rusly Haris Moti, emphasized that the dialogue conducted by activists during the event aims to continuously promote democracy, extending beyond political democracy alone.
According to him, the political democracy achieved thus far must be maintained as capital for building and transforming it into an economic democracy.
"We want our democracy to provide access to the country's wealth so that it can be enjoyed by all the people of Indonesia," Moti said while opening the event.
