Another one!

Not words I thought I would be typing when I woke up this morning, but nothing screams Club World Cup like... DJ Khaled?

I wonder how many times those fans have asked him for 'Another one!'...

No regrets.

Strange sign

Admittedly it looks bad after that last post, but promise this isn't my sign...

Anything cooler than Modric?

Second time I've said it, I'm aware, but very much hope this shirt - arrival kit? coach jersey? entry collection? - goes on sale...

Maybe it's just that Luke Modric makes everything he touches look cool, but I may have to check the adidas website after the final whistle.

At least one positive innovation

I know we spoke about some innovations that probably won't be catching on in the Premier League, but there have been some good introductions.

I for one am a big fan of ref cam, and it's been a good insight as to what a ref actually sees on the pitch throughout the tournament, and we got another look at it in the earlier kick-off.

Man City's 2-0 win over Wydad was almost perfect, but for a late red card for Rico Lewis soured things a touch, and naturally the ref gave us a good angle for that one...

Ronaldo's rumoured Al-Hilal move

By Dominic Hogan

Al-Hilal had a bit of a busy end to the first transfer window of the summer, as they busily tried to bring in a No 9 ahead of the tournament.

Approaches were made for Victor Osimhen and Benjamin Sesko, and there was even a rumoured move to Cristiano Ronaldo...

Check out what the club's CEO had to say about that deal at the link below.

The Portugal superstar currently features for Saudi Pro League rivals Al-Nassr, after signing for the club in the wake of his acrimonious second Manchester United exit at the end of 2022.

How many?!

As someone who has no idea what they're talking about, has never come anywhere close to playing elite football, and hasn't spent a second in the kitroom of a professional football club, I feel like I'm qualified enough to ask why Dean Huijsen needs four pairs of shoes for a football match.

Most people I play with at Power League can't even bring one pair of boots, and he's got three?!

Mad.

The home of Mr Messi

By Dominic Hogan

Tonight's game will be taking place at Inter Miami's Hard Rock Stadium, the home of Lionel Messi.

Officially, it can hold around 65,000 fans, though we will have to see if there are similar issues to Chelsea's game with LAFC on Monday, when the ground was only a third full.

Worth pointing out though to be fair, that Boca Juniors' draw with Benfica was absolutely brimming to the rafters, so we'll have to see which end of that spectrum we fall on a little later...

Get ready for the walk-outs later on

By Dominic Hogan

This Club World Cup is by definition a break away from tradition, but if there's one thing I'm unconvinced by so far it's the bizarre decision to bring out the players one by one...

The best part is when there's a whole team out and then the first player from the other side has to come out on their own and just stand there staring at their opponents a little sheepishly...

KIERAN GILL: Marc Cucurella was the first to have his name announced as he took to the pitch to play LA FC. He then had to wait while the other 21 players joined him.

Inzaghi with a bold wardrobe choice

Not sure why Inzaghi feels the need to cover up in jumper and trackies - it's currently about 33 degrees in Miami...

There have been some complaints about the heat in terms of kick-off times and the blaring summer sun, but you'd expect two teams that play their football in Spain and Saudi Arabia shouldn't have too many issues there?

All eyes on Trent

Naturally, all eyes will be on Trent, though I feel like it will take a while to get used to the new moniker and No 12 shirt.

An incredibly attacking right back in behind that fluid Real Madrid front line? You do worry for Al-Hilal.

But there's plenty of class and experience in that Al-Hilal side, so Alexander-Arnold will have to make sure he's checking over his shoulder, too.

It will be interesting to see how Xabi Alonso builds his team with Alexander-Arnold's well-known forward-foraying tendencies in mind as the season progresses.

VERY brave City fan

I know this isn't our game, but that is one brave City fan...

You'd imagine it might be slightly more tense scenes if that was Man United red and not Wydad around them...

Exclusive:Inside Alexander-Arnold's first week at Real

By Dominic Hogan

Turns out that this 'Trent' character was actually Trent Alexander-Arnold all along - who knew?!

It's safe to say that Alexander-Arnold's move to Real was on the divisive side, but how has he been settling in with the Spanish giants?

Mail Sport's AADAM PATEL, who is reporting live from Miami tonight, has got all the inside info at the link below for you...

EXCLUSIVE BY AADAM PATEL IN MIAMI: Come Saturday, Madrid travelled to Miami and over the last few days, reality has started to settle in for Alexander-Arnold here in the Sunshine State.

Real Madrid are in the house

I don't know what you call that kit, but it's very tasty.

The wait is at an end...

By Dominic Hogan

It's the question that's long been asked, but never before been answered - when will we get a type-writer featuring in a motivational video for one of the more controversial competitions in club football?

Well, the wait is finally at an end...

Who needs logic?

By Dominic Hogan

Logic suggests that Real Madrid should come through this one fairly comfortably, but with the season already technically over in most senses, you never know...

Looks like there's a few hundred fans in blue here who would beg to differ with silly old logic, though.

A scary prospect

By Dominic Hogan

Actually, jokes aside, there's a lot that's new about these two teams, with Xabi Alonso also set to make his managerial debut with Real, which is one of those appointments that just feels scary, doesn't it?

We saw what he cooked up with a decent Bayer Leverkusen side - give him one of the biggest war chests in the world and a squad already capable of winning the Champions League, and it's quite scary really.

Will be a fascinating first look at what Los Blancos will look like in what many will hope is the start of their next great era of dominance.

TEAM NEWS: Al-Hilal XI

And here's the Al-Hilal side...

A number of former Premier League faces in Koulibaly, Lodi, Neves, Cancelo, with former Lazio star Milinkovic-Savic in a strong-looking midfield.

Fans already on the scene

A club as big as Real Madrid are always going to have fans across the world aren't they?

They've already started arriving at what looks like an exceptionally hot and sunny Hard Rock Stadium in Miami...

Real starting strong...

That's a very strong Real Madrid side right there, with Bellingham, Vini Jr and Rodrygo all starting as well as Alexander-Arnold.

Huijsen also starts for Real after joining from Bournemouth for £50m, with Modric among the substitutes.

Real Madrid XI: Courtois; Alexander-Arnold, Asencio, Huijsen, Fran Garcia; Tchouameni, Valverde (C), Bellingham; Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, Gonzalo.

Breaking:TEAM NEWS: Trent starts for Real

Here we go...

Trent starts!

Only one place to start...

By Dominic Hogan

Well, there's only one place to start really, isn't there... Simone Inzaghi is set for his first match in charge of Al-Hilal since joining almost immediately after losing the Champions League final with Inter.

Oh, and there's some right back Real Madrid have brought in for the competition, his shirt says Trent - judging from his announcement press conference he must be some breakout star from Spain because I've never heard of him.

There will be a lot of eyes on the teamsheets tonight to see what that guy can do, whether it's from the start or on the bench.

Man City are 2-0 up as it stands...

A gentle reminder that we're actually entering the final 20 minutes or so of Man City's Club World Cup opener at the link below, if you'd rather catch the tail end of that one and hurry on back over to us...

The holders are currently 2-0 up against Wydad with not long left to go on that one.

And yes, Haaland is on.
