TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will be the guest of honor at the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, Russia, next week, where he is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as quoted by Antara.
Kremlin foreign policy aide Yury Ushakov confirmed on Friday, August 28, that Prabowo would be the forum's main guest.
"This time, Indonesian President Mr. Subianto is the main guest of the 11th Eastern Economic Forum," Ushakov told reporters, according to Russian state media RIA Novosti.
The EEF will be held from September 1 to 4 at the Far Eastern Federal University campus in Vladivostok. Putin is expected to meet Prabowo on the sidelines of the forum on September 3.
Ushakov said the forum would draw business delegations from India, Mongolia, Myanmar, China, Laos, and several other Southeast Asian countries.
The event will feature a business dialogue between Russia and ASEAN, as well as separate dialogues between Russia and Vietnam, India, China, and Mongolia.
Besides Prabowo, the forum's plenary session is also expected to be attended by Mongolian Prime Minister Nyam-Osoryn Uchral, Myanmar Vice President Nyo Saw, and Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang.
Putin is scheduled to travel to Vladivostok after attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Ushakov said the Russian president would address the EEF plenary session and hold separate meetings with Prabowo and Ding.
Before traveling to Russia's Far East, Putin will attend the SCO summit in Bishkek, where he is expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings with leaders including Chinese President Xi Jinping, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The SCO summit is scheduled to discuss strengthening cooperation within the organization across various sectors. According to Ushakov, around 20 to 25 documents, including a joint declaration, are being prepared for signing.
The Eastern Economic Forum is an annual event focused on the development and investment potential of Russia's Far East. This year's theme is "The Far East: Development for the Benefit of People."
