TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's state-owned railway subsidiary, KAI Commuter, said the Commuter Line still operates as normal this afternoon as students are taking to the streets to protest at HI Roundabout.
But Vice President Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, Karina Amanda, said the company will adjust operations as the situation develops. "KAI Commuter continues to monitor the situation on the ground and is ready to carry out operational pattern adjustments while still prioritizing the safety and comfort of users," said Karina in her written statement on Friday, June 12, 2026.
According to KAI Commuter data, 406,139 people have boarded the Commuter Line until 1:00 p.m. Jakarta time today. In detail, there were 45,204 people who disembarked at Sudirman Station, 21,598 people at Juanda Station, 23,994 people at Palmerah Station, and 27,310 people at Tanah Abang Station.
Karina said that there are 72 security personnel deployed across these stations, with 22 personnel at Palmerah Station, 23 personnel at Sudirman Station, and 27 personnel at Juanda Station.
KAI Commuter's additional security personnel consist of internal staff and members of the military and police. They are deployed at stations near the protest site, such as Juanda Station, Palmerah Station, Sudirman Station, and Tanah Abang Station.
"All Commuter Line users are advised to always follow the instructions of the officers at the stations," she said.
Today, university students are planning to gather at the HI Roundabout to protest government policies and the current economic situation. Law enforcement officers have also been deployed at the mass gathering point.
