TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A total of 10 Indonesian airports have been lauded as the best airports in Asia-Pacific for service excellence. These airports were recognized in the 2024 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards by the Airports Council International (ACI), winning across several categories.
Announced on March 10, 2025, the awards assess passenger experience through the most comprehensive and trusted global measurement program in the aviation industry. The program gathers real-time feedback from travelers through live surveys at airports around the world.
In total, a total of 10 airports across Indonesia clinched 27 awards across categories. The Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Indonesia's largest and busiest airport, was named the best airport in Asia-Pacific with over 40 million passengers.
"The category for airports with over 40 million passengers includes large airports in various countries, and Soekarno-Hatta Airport managed to become one of the best in the Asia Pacific region," said InJourney Airports President Director Faik Fahmi in a press release on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
Another airport that was recognized as the best in Asia Pacific is I Gusti Ngurah Rai in Bali, which won for the “Best Airport of 15 to 25 Million Passengers in Asia-Pacific” category.
Faik said that the ASQ Awards 2024 that awarded Soekarno-Hatta Airport and I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport serve as international recognition for the transformation underway at both airports.
InJourney Airports' airports also managed to win awards as the best in Asia Pacific for other categories, such as the Best Airport of 5 to 15 Million Passengers in Asia-Pacific won by Juanda Surabaya, Sultan Hasanuddin Makassar, and SAMS Sepinggan Balikpapan.
Furthermore, the award for Best Airport of 2 to 5 Million Passengers in Asia-Pacific was awarded to Yogyakarta International Airport, Supadio Pontianak, Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Palembang, and Ahmad Yani Semarang. Meanwhile, Pattimura Ambon Airport won the award for Best Airport under 2 Million Passengers in Asia-Pacific.
Special Awards
InJourney Airports that received the Best Airports by Size and Region awards also acquired special awards at the same event.
For instance, Juanda Airport won the Easiest Airport Journey in Asia-Pacific, Most Enjoyable Airport in Asia-Pacific, Cleanest Airport in Asia-Pacific, and the ACI World Director General's Roll of Excellence. Ahmad Yani Semarang Airport also achieved the ACI World Director General's Roll of Excellence.
"The prestigious ACI World Director General's Roll of Excellence awards acquired by Juanda and Ahmad Yani Airports are highly prestigious because they are only given to airports that have won ASQ Awards for 5 years within a 10-year period," explained Faik.
