After House Raid, Will KPK Probe Ridwan Kamil Over BJB Corruption Case?

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) searched the house of former West Java governor Ridwan Kamil in connection with the investigation into the alleged corruption case of advertising funds at the West Java and Banten Regional Development Bank (BJB), Monday, March 10, 2025.

After the search, it is possible that the KPK will question the Jakarta gubernatorial candidate who lost in the 2024 Pilkada (Regional Elections), as a witness.

According to the Antara news agency, the summons is generally carried out by KPK investigators to confirm the findings in the search of the house concerned.

"Investigators will summon any witnesses who are considered to have the information needed in order to fulfill the elements of the case being handled," said KPK Spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika when confirmed in Jakarta, Tuesday, March 11, 2025.

However, the KPK has not yet made a statement regarding whether its investigators need information from RK or Ridwan Kamil so that a summons will be carried out.

The KPK estimates that state financial losses in the alleged BJB corruption case reach hundreds of billions of rupiah. Meanwhile, the exact figure of state losses in the case is still being calculated.

"Hundreds of billions," said Deputy Chair of the Corruption Eradication Commission Fitroh Rohcahyanto when confirmed in Jakarta, Tuesday.

In the case, investigators from the anti-corruption commission have named five people as suspects, but have not announced them.

"There are already suspects, around five people, some from state administrators and some from the private sector," said KPK Spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika at the KPK's Red and White Building, Jakarta, Monday.

In developing the investigation, the KPK has searched a number of locations in Bandung, one of which is the house of Former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil (RK).

Ridwan confirmed the search, "As good citizens, we are very cooperative and fully support and assist the KPK team professionally," he said in a statement.

"We cannot precede the KPK team in providing information on other related matters, please ask the press directly to the KPK team," he said.

The Corruption Eradication Commission on March 5 announced that it had begun investigating a case of alleged corruption within PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Barat dan Banten (BJB) Tbk.

"Yes, we have issued an investigation letter," said KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto at the KPK Anti-Corruption Education Center Building.

Regarding when the KPK will announce who has been named as a suspect and the construction of the case, Setyo said that it is the authority of the KPK investigation team.

"Follow-up to the handling, after the release regarding the determination of the case, it is the authority of the investigator and director or deputy when the follow-up will be carried out," said Setyo.

BJB President Director Resigns

President Director of PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Barat dan Banten (BJB) Yuddy Renaldi has resigned.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi said that the resignation was a very good attitude, because institutional matters are different from personal matters.

"I received a report from the BJB Commissioner that the President Director resigned and I think that attitude is good. Because it means that the action (resignation) taken by the BJB President Director is a personal action, while BJB itself is a banking institution owned by the people of West Java," said Dedi, at the Pakuan Building, Bandung, Wednesday, March 5, 2025.

Regarding Yuddy's resignation, Dedi admitted that he did not know the reason, including whether it was related to the KPK's investigation of BJB for alleged corruption of advertising funds at the West Java-owned BUMD or not.

"I don't know the essence of the resignation, what is clear to me is that the resignation is a better attitude than continuing to lead BJB, because there are several things about management that I think are also not fulfilled," said Dedi.

Regarding the KPK investigation, Dedi said that they followed the provisions and emphasized that the process would not interfere with the service process at BJB.

Yuddy Renaldi resigned from the position of President Director of PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Barat and Banten Tbk (BJBR). His resignation letter was received by Bank BJB on Tuesday, March 4, a day before the KPK announced an investigation into the alleged corruption case at BJB.

"The resignation was made considering personal reasons," BJB management wrote in the Stock Exchange's information disclosure, quoted on Wednesday.

The resignation request will be decided at the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGM) in accordance with the Company's Articles of Association and applicable laws and regulations.

BJB explained that the company's business activities, operations and services continue to run normally as they should. All levels of management and employees remain committed to providing the best service to customers and maintaining the company's performance in accordance with the principles of good governance.
