TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Apple has officially introduced the iPhone 16e, the latest model in the iPhone 16 series, designed to replace the iPhone SE line.
The iPhone 16e has a design similar to the iPhone 14, but of course incorporates numerous enhancements, including the use of the powerful A18 chip, support for Apple Intelligence, and Apple's first self-made cellular modem, the C1.
The announcement of the iPhone 16e is featured on Apple's official website and has been widely published across digital news platforms. It is known that the device features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a resolution of 2532 x 1170 pixels and a pixel density of 460 ppi.
This screen supports HDR, True Tone, and Wide Color (P3), and is protected by a Ceramic Shield, claimed to be the most durable smartphone glass available. The screen brightness reaches 800 nits (standard) and 1,200 nits (HDR), ensuring clear visibility in various lighting conditions.
Powered by the A18 chip, the iPhone 16e offers a performance boost of 80 percent faster than the iPhone 11, which uses the A13 Bionic chip. The device also claims a six-fold improvement in machine learning capabilities.
Apple promises the longest battery life for a 6.1-inch iPhone, with an endurance increase of up to 12 hours compared to the iPhone SE. This phone can play videos for up to 26 hours, stream videos for up to 21 hours, and play audio for up to 90 hours. With a 20W USB-C adapter, the device can achieve a 50 percent charge in just 30 minutes.
In the photography sector, the iPhone 16e is equipped with a 48 MP main camera featuring optical image stabilization (OIS) and Hybrid Focus Pixels. This camera supports 2x optical zoom, night mode, and advanced features like Photonic Engine, Deep Fusion, and Smart HDR 5.
Additional camera features include the ability to record 4K Dolby Vision videos at various frame rates, night mode for photos and time-lapse, portrait mode with Depth Control and Portrait Lighting, panorama up to 63 MP and Smart HDR 5, spatial audio recording, and wind noise reduction. Meanwhile, the 12 MP TrueDepth front camera also supports autofocus, Night Mode, Smart HDR 5, and records 4K Dolby Vision and slow-motion videos.
The iPhone 16e runs on iOS 18 and is among the models compatible with Apple Intelligence. This AI system offers various features such as clean-up which automatically removes distracting objects from photos, language-based photo search, Genmoji to generate emojis from AI, and a smarter Siri with improved contextual understanding and optional ChatGPT integration.
Furthermore, the iPhone 16e is equipped with Apple's C1 modem, supporting satellite connectivity for emergency SOS, roadside assistance, and offline messaging. There is also an Action Button that can be customized for quick access to apps like the camera, Shazam, and Snapchat.
Apple further emphasizes its commitment to sustainability by using 100 percent recycled cobalt in its battery, 95 percent recycled lithium, and 85 percent recycled aluminum in the device body. The iPhone 16e is IP68 certified, which means it is water-resistant up to 6 meters for 30 minutes.
The device is available in three different storage capacities: 128GB priced at US$599 (around Rp9.4 million), 256GB - US$699 (around Rp11 million), and 512GB - US$899 (around Rp14.2 million).
