TEMPO.CO, Jakarta The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that the Jakarta area and its surroundings will continue to experience partly cloudy weather throughout today, Tuesday, March 17, 2026. The air humidity in this metropolitan area ranges from 55-80 percent, with winds tending to blow southwest at speeds ranging from 10-35 kilometers per hour.

Referring to the latest weather forecast by BMKG, almost the entire Jabodetabek (Greater Jakarta) area will experience partly cloudy weather, with some areas being cloudy. From 01:00 AM WIB (Western Indonesian Time) until this morning, there is a potential for light rain in parts of the Thousand Islands region.

From 07:00 AM WIB until midday, the BMKG predicts that Jakarta and its surroundings will be partly cloudy. This cloudy weather is likely to persist until 07:00 PM WIB. The highest air temperature, usually during the day, may reach 34 degrees Celsius. The lowest temperature range in Jabodetabek is 24 degrees Celsius. The temperature in some areas in Bogor may drop to 20 degrees Celsius, but it can reach 32 degrees Celsius when it's hot.

On a national scale, the Acting Deputy of Meteorology BMKG, Andri Ramdhani, previously explained that the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) activity is still active in the southern and eastern regions of Indonesia. This condition, which is also accompanied by Equatorial Rossby Waves and Kelvin Waves activities around the Indonesian region during the period of March 13-20, strengthens the atmospheric dynamics that support the growth of rain clouds in some areas. This situation is also influenced by relatively high air humidity and a sufficiently unstable atmospheric condition.

The potential for moderate to heavy rain is predicted to occur in some areas of Sumatra and parts of Central and Eastern Java during the period of March 14-17. Furthermore, from March 18-20, the possibility of rain can also occur in some areas of South Sulawesi and Papua.
