TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Commissioner General Marthinus Hukom ensured that individuals who voluntarily report themselves or their family members due to drug addiction will not face legal action. According to Hukom, these addicts will receive rehabilitation to free themselves from the grip of narcotics.
"We guarantee and ensure that those who voluntarily report themselves will not face legal action," said Hukom in a statement quoted on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. Reports can be submitted to the Receiver of Mandatory Reports Institution (IPWL) spread across various regions.
Hukom mentioned that reporting to IPWL aims to receive treatment and education about the dangers of narcotics. He explicitly assured that each reporter will not face criminal sanctions for using narcotics.
This three-star police general also urged drug addicts not to feel ashamed to report themselves to IPWL. Even parents who are aware that their family members are already caught in narcotics are requested to assist in reporting so that the addicts can be rehabilitated promptly.
In the same release, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan appealed to parents not to hesitate to seek assistance from authorized officers to rehabilitate their children addicted to narcotics. He stated that the role of parents is crucial in this matter.
"Do not hesitate to seek our assistance, especially from BNN, if there are indications that our children are using narcotics," said Budi Gunawan. "Parents play a role in preventing their children from using narcotics."
