TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer PT BYD Motor Indonesia is optimistic about maintaining its position as the market leader for EVs in Indonesia. The company believes the electrified vehicle segment continues to expand positively despite economic uncertainty and plans to bolster its competitiveness by rolling out new electrified models.

"I see that the growth of electrified vehicles is quite consistent and positive. Even amidst market turmoil and economic instability, electrified vehicles remain a favorite among the public," said Luther Panjaitan, Head of Marketing, PR, and Government Relations at PT BYD Motor Indonesia, in Tangerang on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

According to Luther, these market dynamics shows that public interest in electric vehicles remains high, even as consumer purchasing power encounters headwinds from economic pressures. He added that this optimism is further reinforced by the government's commitment to accelerating the energy transition and curbing fuel subsidy burdens. To support this momentum, BYD will continue offering a broader range of EV options, including Dual Mode (DM) hybrid technology, to accelerate the adoption of low-emission transportation across the archipelago.

"BYD's strategy is to continue bringing more of the best product choices to the public so they will be more willing to make the transition," he stated.

In addition to introducing new electrified models, BYD is also set to strengthen its after-sales service capabilities. Luther noted that the company has already established a network of 100 dealerships as of this year and will keep expanding its footprint, particularly by extending its reach into secondary regions to accommodate the growing community of EV drivers.
