TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - British pop star Charli XCX is reportedly on the shortlist for a major role in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming 'The Chronicles of Narnia' adaptation for Netflix. According to Deadline, Charli is being considered for a significant part in the highly anticipated project.
Beyond music, Charli has been making strides in the film industry. Following her contribution of 'Speed Drive' song to 'Barbie' (2023) motion picture soundtrack, she has taken on multiple projects, including 'The Gallerist' (dir. Cathy Yan), 'Sacrifice' (dir. Romain Gavras), and 'I Want Your Sex' (dir. Gregg Araki). She is also producing her first film, 'The Moment', through her newly launched Studio365 in collaboration with A24.
Could She Be the White Witch?
While Charli’s exact role remains undisclosed, speculation suggests she may portray Jadis, the White Witch—the iconic antagonist from C.S. Lewis’s 'The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe'. If cast, she would follow in the footsteps of Tilda Swinton, who played the character in Disney and Walden Media’s Narnia trilogy (2005–2010).
Known for her bold and theatrical stage presence, Charli could bring a fresh take to the role. However, no official confirmation has been made.

Netflix acquired 'The Chronicles of Narnia' rights in 2018, announcing plans for a film and series adaptation. Greta Gerwig was confirmed as director in 2020, following her record-breaking success with Barbie, which grossed US$1.44 billion globally, or around Rp 23 trillion
The film is set for a limited IMAX release on Thanksgiving 2026, followed by its Netflix debut on December 25, 2026. However, details about the storyline and full cast remain under wraps.
