TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, denies rumors that he will resign from Prabowo’s cabinet, stating that he remains focused on doing his work as normal. He also denies that Finance Minister Sri Mulyani will step down.

"There's no plan to resign. I have spoken with Bu Sri Mulyani this afternoon, and she is also working full-time,” he said on Tuesday, March, 18, dismissing the report as “a hoax.”

Cabinet reshuffle issue surfaced after political observer Kevin O'Rourke wrote in a March 10 article for Reformasi Weekly Review that the reshuffle was likely to occur after the Eid holiday, or March 30.

Kevin said Sri Mulyani and Airlangga Hartarto are likely to resign. Sri Mulyani's resignation is indicated by the curtailing on her authority. He said the minister will be replaced by her own deputy, Thomas Djiwandono, who is also President Prabowo’s nephew. Meanwhile, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita is said to be replacing Airlangga's position.

Deputy Chair of the Gerindra Party, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, dismissed the rumor of Sri Mulyani's resignation after a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on March 12, 2025.

"I have confirmed with the government, and there is no reshuffle plan, and there’s not one for Bu Sri Mulyani either,” said Dasco after a working visit to Kramat Jati Market in Jakarta on Friday, March 14, 2025, quoted from Antara.

Prior to that, Sri Mulyani Indrawati met with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace on March 12 to report on the state budget performance. The meeting lasted for about 2 hours, interspersed withan evening meal together to break their fast.

Sri Mulyani at the time declined to further explain her discussion with Prabowo.
