TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto is furious over the distribution of MinyaKita cooking oil that fails to meet the required standards. He has called for strict punishment for those responsible.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture (Wamentan) Sudaryono shared this statement at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, March 12, 2025
"(Is the President angry?) Yes, how could he not be angry? The public are also angry. The President's essential request is that no one is above the law. Anyone who violates it must be firmly punished," Sudaryono said.
The Chairman of the Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of the Gerindra Party in Central Java stated that Prabowo wants the public to receive quality products and services. Prabowo also emphasized that no one should dance upon the people's suffering.
Therefore, Prabowo insists that the perpetrators face strict legal consequences. Sudaryono emphasized that the president seeks a strong deterrent effect to prevent similar violations in the future.
So far, Sudaryono stated that three companies suspected of tampering with MinyaKita’s measurements have been reported to the police, who are now handling the case.
“In Solo, we’ve identified two more companies. We will follow up on this soon,” he added.
Earlier, Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman discovered irregularities in MinyaKita’s volume during an unannounced inspection at Lenteng Agung Market, South Jakarta, on Saturday, March 8, 2025.
The inspection revealed that MinyaKita, which should contain 1 liter, only had 750 to 800 milliliters. This finding has sparked widespread disappointment and criticism, especially as it happened during the holy month of Ramadan.
Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo ensured that all violations harming MinyaKita consumers will be addressed. The police have formed a Food Task Force led by Brigadier General Helfi Assegaf to investigate the viral MinyaKita cooking oil packaging.
"Yesterday we visited three locations, conducted inspections, and there may be law enforcement. Indeed, we found some that did not comply with the one-liter packaging," said Sigit when met at the Mutiara STIK Police Auditorium, Jakarta, on Monday, March 10, 2025.
