Tempo.CO, Probolinggo - The flood that struck the Probolinggo Regency, East Java, reportedly claimed one life. The victim was a resident of Brani Village, Maron District, Probolinggo Regency.
The flood occurred on Monday, March 10, 2025. A total of 314 households were affected by the flood, with a height reaching 150 centimeters. Hundreds of houses and public facilities in the Krejengan, Pajarakan, Maron, Gading, and Krakasaan Districts were submerged by the flood.
A rapid assessment conducted by the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Probolinggo Regency recorded one educational facility, namely the Daruttauhid Islamic Boarding School, being affected and one bridge heavily damaged. Due to the bridge damage, the access between Satriyan Village and Sumber Secang Village was cut off.
The Head of Data, Information, and Disaster Communications of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Abdul Muhari, stated that the latest report received mentioned that the floodwaters had completely receded on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. However, the damaged connecting road remains impassable.
BNPB urged the people of Probolinggo Regency to remain vigilant against the potential for secondary disasters. "The weather forecast for most of the Probolinggo Regency in the next three days (March 11-13, 2025) still indicates the potential for light to moderate rain," Muhari said in a written statement received by Tempo on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
He urged the public to always prepare disaster preparedness kits and to always follow official information from the government.
