TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded floods in 10 neighborhood units (RTs) in the region at 7:00 a.m. today, Friday, January 31, 2025. The flood covered 7 RTs in West Cengkareng Village and 3 RTs in Tegal Alur Village, West Jakarta.
"It was caused by torrential downpours with water levels ranging from 30 to 60 centimeters," wrote BPBD Jakarta in a written statement on Friday, January 31.
Heavy rain has been pouring over Jakarta since Tuesday, which lasted overnight into Wednesday. As a result, the water volume at Katulampa Dam was elevated to alert level 3. Similar occurrences are detected in the water gates of several river streams across Jakarta.
According to BPBD, 107 individuals from 42 households were evacuated due to the floods in West Cengkareng Village. Meanwhile, 692 people from 355 households were evacuated in Tegal Alur Village.
In North Jakarta, floods caused 500 people from 160 households to be evacuated from Rorotan Village, while 1,485 people from 312 households were evacuated from West Semper Village.
BPBD has provided assistance for the clothing and food of the evacuees while handling the floods.
