TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former tennis player Anna Kournikova was seen using a wheelchair at the Bal Harbour Shops in Miami, Florida, United States. This is her first public appearance in the last two years.

The New York Post shared photos of Anna Kournikova sitting in a wheelchair on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. It is known that the photo was taken on Saturday, January 25, 2025. The former Russian athlete was sitting in a wheelchair wearing an orthopedic boot. She wore sunglasses as a woman pushed her wheelchair in the parking lot of the shop. Anna was accompanied by her two daughters, Lucy and Mary.

The Grand Slam doubles champion has not revealed anything about her injury. Previously, Anna Kournikova retired early as a tennis player at the age of 21 due to an injury.

Anna Kournikova's Life After Retirement

After retiring, Anna Kournikova is now more focused on her personal life with singer Enrique Iglesias and rarely appears in public. The couple first met on the set of the music video for 'Escape' in 2001. Their relationship lasted for years. They have kept a low profile, opting to keep much of their personal life private.

In a 2023 interview with People, Iglesias reflected on meeting Kournikova. “That video changed my life in a way that I didn’t even think about,” Iglesias said. “When we met, even though she came from the sports world in some ways, we understood each other. She knew what my world was like. I knew what her world was like. So that understanding helped a lot.”

While the couple prefers to keep their family life private, Iglesias occasionally shares details about their daily routine. He described how music plays a big role in their household, bringing joy to their children even during tough times.

On Anna Kournikova’s Career

Anna Kournikova was once considered one of the best tennis players in the world. She played professional tennis for eight years before retiring in 2003 at the age of 21. Although Kournikova never won a singles title during her career, she did reach No. 8 in 2000, and was a No. 1 player in 2003. 1 in doubles. She won the Australian Grand Slam doubles titles in 1999 and 2002 with Martina Hingis and the WTA Championships in 1999 and 2000.

She announced her retirement from tennis in 2003, citing serious back and spinal problems. “Basically, I had injuries almost every year. In 1997 I had a stress fracture and was out for three months,” she said. “In 1998 I tore a ligament in my thumb and was out for three months; in 1999 I had another stress fracture for three months; and then in 2001 I basically didn’t play the whole year.”
