TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government will launch Nusantarahub, an integrated platform for a free homecoming travel. The Transportation Ministry will execute this platform after the launch.
Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs, Pratikno, stated that the government has verified the readiness of sea, land, and air transportation, including trains, for the free homecoming initiative.
"So, we will launch it this year, and then the Ministry of Transportation will take the lead in creating an integrated platform for free homecoming travel," Pratikno said at the Coordinating Ministry of Human Development and Cultural Affairs office in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
A platform develops and implements applications, services, or products. This platform can encompass hardware, software, or a combination of both.
Pratikno explained that the platform will ensure the even distribution of homecoming transportation, such as buses. He emphasized the importance of preventing situations where some buses are overcrowded while others are underutilized.
"Coordinating and consolidating data among providers that can be accessed by free homecoming travelers can be bridged using this integrated platform," he stated.
The State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Ministry is conducting the free homecoming program for Eid al-Fitr 2025. Prospective travelers can register for the SOE-organized homecoming program, themed ‘Safe Homecoming,’ starting Monday, March 3, 2025.
SOE Minister Erick Thohir said the ministry is following President Prabowo Subianto's directives in preparation for the 2025 Eid al-Fitr homecoming. "For the SOE Ministry, this joint homecoming agenda is similar to the policy of reducing airplane ticket prices or adding train carriages to facilitate people in gathering with their families," Erick Thohir said in a written statement on Monday, March 3, 2025.
This year, a total of 78 SOEs will participate in organizing the free homecoming program. The SOE Ministry aims for 100,000 homecomers to participate in the program.
The homecoming program provides three modes of transportation: buses, trains, and ships. The bus transportation mode provides 1,360 vehicles for free homecoming, with a capacity of 67,000 people. Meanwhile, there are 90 train carriages with a capacity of 28,000 people and 26 ships with a capacity of 5,000 people facilitating the free homecoming in 2025.
