TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The death toll from the US-UK airstrikes on Saturday night in several Yemeni cities has risen to 31, with 101 others injured. The majority of the fatalities and injuries were women and children, the Houthi-controlled Health Ministry reported on Sunday, March 16, 2025, as cited by Anadolu.

"The massacre carried out by the US aggression targeting civilian areas and settlements in Sanaa, Saada, Al-Bayda, and Rada'a on Saturday resulted in 132 civilian casualties, including 31 martyrs and 101 injured, the majority of whom were children and women," said Anis Al-Asbahi, the ministry's spokesman.

He added that the numbers are "preliminary, as search efforts continue to find victims after a series of US airstrikes targeting civilian sites."

Asbahi condemned the attack, calling it a "full-fledged war crime added to the record of the coalition's criminal acts" and "blatant violations of all international laws and conventions."

On Saturday, the Iran-backed Houthi group announced that the US-UK airstrikes in Yemen had killed 24 people, with at least 23 others injured.

Houthi warned Israel on March 7 to allow humanitarian aid to Gaza within four days or face a new maritime operation against vessels associated with Israel.

The US launched airstrikes against Houthi in Yemen as President Donald Trump warned that "hell will rain down" if the Houthi Shia group continued attacks on Red Sea shipping.

Houthi has targeted Israeli-associated ships in the Red Sea with missiles and drones since late 2023, disrupting global trade, in solidarity with the Palestinian population in Gaza.

The group halted the attacks when a Gaza ceasefire was announced on January 19 between Israel and Hamas. However, they threatened to resume the attacks when Israel blocked all aid to Gaza on March 2.
