Indonesia Exits AFF Cup After 1-1 Draw Against Singapore

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian national team has exited the AFF Cup after a 1-1 draw against Singapore in an away game for the final match of Group A at Jalan Besar Stadium, Singapore, late Friday.

Indonesia took the lead with a goal by Ragnar Oratmangoen, but Singapore equalized via Ilhan Fandi, according to AFF records.

The draw cut Indonesia's goal of advancing to the AFF Cup semifinals short, as they remained in third place in the Group A standings with seven points from four matches.

Meanwhile, the draw was enough to secure Singapore a ticket to the knockouts, as they finish second with eight points from four games.

Indonesia took the initiative to attack early on and created a chance through a shot by Mitchell Baker, which was blocked by the Singapore defense.

Singapore responded by threatening the Indonesian goal through an effort by Hami Syahin, but his shot went wide.

Another shot on a goal by Song Ui-Young was blocked by the Garuda Squad's defense. 

Song Ui-Young threatened the Indonesian goal once more, but the shot from the Lion City Sailors midfielder was saved by Indonesian goalkeeper Cahya Supriadi.

Next, it was Gleen Kweh's turn to create a chance for Singapore, but his shot went wide of the Indonesian goal.

Indonesia tried to break free from the pressure and threatened with a header from Baker following a cross by Eliano Reijnders, but the ball was secured by Singapore goalkeeper Izwan Mahbud.

The Lions created another opportunity when a pass from Gleen Kweh set up a shot by Ilhan Fandi, which was saved by Cahya Supriadi.

Both teams continued their quest for a goal during the remainder of the first half, but the score remained 0-0 at halftime.

Entering the second half, Indonesia again took the attacking initiative and took the lead in the 47th minute thanks to a goal by Ragnar Oratmangoen, making the score 1-0. Indonesia had a chance to double their lead, but the shot fired by Thom Haye was saved by Izwan Mahbud.

Singapore managed to equalize in the 66th minute through a strike by forward Ilhan Fandi, bringing the score level at 1-1.

In the remaining time, both teams pushed for a winning goal, but the 1-1 draw held firm until the final whistle.
