TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), or KAI, has launched the KA Batavia, which operates on the Gambir – Solo Balapan (round-trip) route, running every Thursday through Sunday throughout February 2025. The inaugural trip is scheduled for Thursday, February 6.
Anne Purba, KAI’s VP for PR, explained that the Batavia line provides an alternative for those traveling for business or leisure to cities such as Jakarta, Cirebon, Purwokerto, Yogyakarta, and Solo.
“We hope that KA Batavia will meet our customers' need for practical, comfortable, and affordable transportation. The train features the latest generation of mixed carriages, including four executive Stainless Steel New Generation cars, each with a capacity of 50 seats, and four economy Stainless Steel New Generation cars, each with a capacity of 72 seats,” Anne said in a press statement on Thursday, February 6.
Anne added that these carriages are designed with ergonomic seats, modern amenities, and elegant interiors to maximize passenger comfort.
“By launching KA Batavia, the journey from Jakarta to Solo is now more enjoyable and offers more options. Passengers can enjoy a practical trip while taking in the scenic views from the train window,” Anne concluded.
The Batavia line to Solo Balapan (KA 7006) departs from Gambir Station at 09:35 and is scheduled to arrive at Solo Balapan Station at 18:00. The return service to Gambir (KA 7005) departs from Solo Balapan Station at 22:00 and is expected to arrive at Gambir Station at 07:05.
The train will make stops at several stations, including Solo Balapan, Klaten, Yogyakarta, Kutoarjo, Kebumen, Kroya, Purwokerto, Cirebon, Jatinegara, and Gambir.
Tickets for KA Batavia are available for purchase through the Access by KAI app, the booking.kai.id website, and other official sales partners.
