TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's transition to a centralized "single-door" export mechanism for key strategic natural resources remains on track, with full implementation scheduled for the end of December 2026, Trade Minister Budi Santoso said Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
Under the Indonesian Government Regulation (PP) No. 24 of 2026, state-owned enterprise PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI) was established to manage and oversee the single-channel export system, which currently covers three major commodities: coal, palm oil and ferroalloys.
"I think it is good; everything is proceeding well, though we are still in a transition phase," Budi told reporters in Jakarta.
"The transition runs until December 31, so we will wait to see the overall performance," he added.
The Indonesian Trade Ministry is holding ongoing discussions with PT DSI as the company prepares its operational framework ahead of the year-end deadline.
Launched on June 1, 2026, the single-door policy is designed to strengthen national governance over high-value exports and foreign exchange earnings (DHE).
Beyond improving oversight, the mechanism aims to strengthen Indonesia's bargaining power in international trade, stabilize the rupiah, curb inflation and support broader macroeconomic growth.
According to data from the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, PT DSI analyzed approximately 6,500 export declarations (PEB) during its first three months of operation.
The declarations represented more than US$14 billion in trade value and over 90 million tons of commodities shipped to more than 100 destination countries.
"We are continuing to discuss the appropriate format, but DSI is currently in the process of preparing itself," Budi said.
The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, together with relevant ministries, is evaluating the initial transition phase to lay the groundwork for subsequent stages following the conclusion of the transition period at the end of 2026.
