TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar revealed his prediction regarding the date of Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijriah or 2025 AD. He estimated Eid to fall on March 31, 2025.

"So, our Eid is predicted to be on March 31, 2025," he said during a press conference for the Joint Sectoral Coordination Meeting for the 2025 Eid al-Fitr Operation at the Mutiara STIK Polri Auditorium, Jakarta, on Monday, March 10, 2025.

Thus, he said, Muslims will fast for 30 days this year. Nasaruddin also mentioned that this prediction indicates the possibility of Eid al-Fitr being celebrated simultaneously with other Islamic organizations, such as Muhammadiyah.

"Likewise, so we fasted together yesterday, and insyaallah, we will also celebrate Eid together," said Nasaruddin.

Meanwhile, for the upcoming Eid al-Fitr, he also proposed a plan to utilize mosques along the Eid homecoming routes as 24-hour alternative posts for homecomers of Eid al-Fitr 1446 H.

"In facing the holiday exodus, the Ministry of Religious Affairs will coordinate with various parties. One of the proposed policies is to open mosques along the homecoming routes for 24 hours," he said, quoted from the ministry's official statement on Thursday, March 6, 2025.

With this policy, he hopes that homecomers can rest comfortably in the mosques without having to crowd the rest areas.

"This is important to reduce congestion at rest areas or gas stations, which often become congested due to limited facilities," he said.
