TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Cyber Crime Directorate of the Indonesian National Police discovered the distribution of child sexual abuse materials (CSAM) on the social media platform Telegram. The police have identified two suspects, with initials MM and F, who were proven to have managed a group containing thousands of pornographic contents.

The head of the CSAM Task Force at the Cyber Crime Directorate, Pol. Grand Comm. Jeffri Dian, said the two suspects were arrested in separate locations.

"MM was arrested in Central Hulu Sungai Regency, South Kalimantan, and F was arrested in Sidenreng Rappang Regency, South Sulawesi," said Jeffri in his statement quoted on Saturday, May 10, 2025.

Jeffri mentioned that MM managed 12 Telegram groups and sold access to child sexual abuse materials with a prace tag ranging from Rp25,000 to Rp100,000 per member.

Investigators confiscated two mobile phones and one laptop containing thousands of photos and videos of same-sex child sexual abuse materials.

Meanwhile, F was proven to sell access to two Telegram groups at prices ranging from Rp49,000 to Rp299,000.

"We will not allow space for sex criminals against children in digital spaces," said Jeffri.

Both suspects are currently detained in the National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency's detention center. They are charged with Article 45 Paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 27 Paragraph (1) of ITE Law and/or Article 29 in conjunction with Article 4 Paragraph (1) and/or Article 37 in conjunction with Article 11 of the Law on Pornography. The maximum penalty is 12 years in prison with a maximum fine of Rp6 billion.

The Indonesian police urge citizens to report suspicious activities that may lead to online sexual exploitation of children.
