TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated on Monday, March 16, 2026, that Iran will continue to resist United States attacks until President Donald Trump realizes that initiating a war with Iran is a mistake that should not be repeated.
"Iran has never asked for a ceasefire or negotiations. Such claims are fantasies," Araghchi wrote, as reported by Sputnik and quoted by Antara.
He emphasized that Iran's powerful military will continue to retaliate until the US President acknowledges that the illegal war imposed on the American and Iranian people is wrong and should not be repeated, and ensures that the victims are compensated.
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched attacks on targets in Iran, including in Tehran, causing damage and civilian casualties.
The attacks also killed Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, leading the Islamic Republic of Iran to declare a 40-day mourning period.
Iran then retaliated by attacking Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Middle East.
Initially, the US and Israel claimed that the preemptive attacks were necessary to counter the perceived threat from Iran's nuclear program, but they later stated their desire to see a change of power in Iran.
