TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Culinary stalls cram the courtyard of Jakarta City Hall today, Thursday, February 20, 2025. The Jakarta government is offering 15 thousand free meals for residents to welcome the inauguration of Governor- and Deputy Governor-elect Pramono Anung and Rano Karno.
Jakarta’s head of the Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, and Small and Medium Enterprises Department (PPUKM), Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo, said there will be 75 government-partnered MSMEs to enliven the inauguration today.
"People can pick one menu to their liking, and their hand will be stamped for proof,” said Elisabeth in a written statement on Thursday.
The variety of meals is quite diverse, she said, ranging from typical Betawi cuisine to other Nusantara dishes.
At 10:30 a.m. local time, food stalls offering soto betawi, kerak telor (Betawi-style omelet), and various other culinary delights were already lining up in the courtyard of Jakarta City Hall. But people can start enjoying the food starting at 12:30 p.m.
Not only food stalls, Jakarta City Hall is also primped up for the occasion. Tempo observed rows of flower arrangements at the front side of the building, which were sent to congratulate Pramono Anung and Rano Karno for their inauguration.
Betawi ornaments like ondel-ondel can also be seen at various points of the building, while a large stage is set up in the courtyard. The newly inaugurated Jakarta leaders will hold their first assembly with the Jakarta utility workers, field workers at the Water Resources Office, and medical personnel.
Pramono said the assembly is aimed at boosting their spirits and encouraging them to work harder, as the frontline workers of Jakarta.
"We will then bid farewell to the acting governor, said Pramono before his inauguration on Thursday morning.
There will be no parades to welcome the new governor and deputy governor, Pramono added, but his volunteers, supporters, and members of political parties that backed them during the election will be present.
President Prabowo Subianto will inaugurate 481 elected regional heads today, Thursday, February 20. Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto stated that the inauguration procession is held at the State Palace at 10:00 a.m.
