TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Government reaffirms its support for the Palestinian people's right to live in peace and security and to enjoy full dignity.
“The Jakarta government is fully supportive. Naturally, the government fully supports the struggle of the Palestinian people, who are currently facing extraordinary challenges,” said Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung at City Hall, Jakarta, on Thursday, as quoted by ANTARA.
He stated that the humanitarian aid is being provided to the residents of Gaza through channels such as the National Zakat Agency (Baznas/Baziz). Pramono also expressed deep concern regarding the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel.
“This includes civilians who continue to face loss of life, repeated displacement, and shortages of water, food, and healthcare services,” said Pramono.
Furthermore, he welcomed the wish of several Palestinian communities to commemorate Indonesia's 81st Independence Day at the Palestinian Embassy in Jakarta.
"We will work together to ensure the embassy truly welcomes the independence of the Republic of Indonesia," said Pramono.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia, Abdalfatah A.K. Al-Sattari, revealed that his meeting with the Jakarta Governor included discussions on Palestine and the situation in Gaza.
“The Palestinian people are suffering greatly. But, as I always say, Palestine will be free, Insha Allah. Alhamdulillah, support for Palestine is growing across the globe,” he stated.
During the meeting, the Palestinian Ambassador also extended congratulations to the people of Indonesia on the occasion of Independence Day.
