TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi hopes that international support for a two-state solution in Palestine will continue to grow.
Foreign Minister Motegi made the remarks while chairing a ministerial meeting of the Conference on East Asian Cooperation for Palestine Development (CEAPAD) in Manila, Philippines, on Wednesday, July 22.
"Viability of Palestine is essential to realize a two-state solution," Motegi said, as reported by Japanese state television station NHK, citing ANTARA.
Japan established the CEAPAD framework in 2013 as a forum to discuss support for Palestine. The meeting was attended by representatives from the Palestinian Authority and several East Asian countries.
According to Motegi, CEAPAD can contribute to Palestinian state-building efforts through medium- and long-term human resource development. Capacity building in health, education, agriculture, and tourism is cited as a priority for cooperation.
Motegi also emphasized the importance of trilateral cooperation, namely collaboration between partner countries to support Palestine according to their respective strengths.
