TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI will provide 400 train tickets for the free homecoming program during the Eid Al-Fitr 2025 period. The Director of KAI, Didiek Hartantyo, said that the free tickets are valid for the Tawang Jaya Premium train, which travels from Jakarta Pasar Senen to Semarang Tawang.
However, Didiek revealed that the registration for the free homecoming train program will be announced later. The program is open to the public with applicable terms and conditions.
The Tawang Jaya Premium train in the free homecoming program for Eid Al-Fitr 2025 will depart on Wednesday, March 26. The Tawang Jaya Premium train serves the travel routes starting from Pasar Senen, Jatinegara, Bekasi, Cirebon, Brebes, Tegal, Pemalang, Pekalongan, Weleri, Semarang Poncol, to Semarang Tawang.
In addition, KAI also offers a 20% discount on train tickets and super cheap sales during the Eid Al-Fitr 2025 period. There are two types of train ticket discounts, namely regular and super cheap or flash sale.
"We will also carry out regular promotions with a 20% discount on March 18 and 19, 2025. Now, just wait for the flash sale, so it will happen suddenly," said Didiek during a press conference at the Ministry of BUMN office, Jakarta, on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, as quoted from Antara.
He explained that the 20% discount on train tickets for the remaining Eid transportation period, which will be carried out on March 18-19, 2025, will provide a total of 38,000 passenger seats or will be adjusted to the available number of seats. Ticket reservations with a 20% discount from the regular fare will be available on March 18-19, 2025.
Meanwhile, he continued, the flash sale rate can only be booked through the Access by KAI application. The super cheap discount will take place on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at 12.00 PM local time, with 2,000 tickets available or adjusted to availability.
"So, (train tickets for the flash sale) are like a draw, so those who are ready, can immediately join. Initially, there are 2,000 tickets, but if needed, we will add more," said Didiek.
It is worth noting that KAI will operate 9,572 regular train trips and additional trips during the Eid Al-Fitr 2025 or 1446 Hijriah transport season. The homecoming period is set for 22 days, starting from Friday, March 21 to Friday, April 11, 2025.
Of the 9,572 train trips, there are 8,492 regular train trips and 1,080 additional train trips. The total capacity provided is 4,568,838 seats, covering long-distance trains (inter-provincial), local trains (inter-city), and tourist trains.
Of the more than 4.5 million available seats, some of them are seats on local trains. Meanwhile, the reservation for local train tickets will start 30 days before departure, while tickets for other trains can only be accessed 7 days before departure.
