TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has scheduled to question the former Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Rini Soemarno today. In its official statement, KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto stated that Rini is being questioned as a witness in the alleged corruption case regarding the gas sales cooperation between PT Pertamina Gas Negara (PGN) and PT Inti Alasindo Energi (IAE).
"KPK has scheduled the examination of a witness in the alleged corruption case related to the gas trading cooperation between PGN and IAE," said Tessa Mahardhika on Monday, February 10, 2025.
Aside from Rini, KPK also plans to question PGN employee named Helmy Setiawan. According to the schedule, Rini is questioned for her capacity as a PGN employee. The examination process takes place at the Merah Putih Building of the KPK, South Jakarta.
On May 13, 2024, KPK announced that it had initiated an investigation into alleged corruption at PGN during the 2018-2020 fiscal year. The investigation was based on the audit results by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK).
The alleged corruption occurred in the gas trading process between PGN and PT Isar Gas (IG), which was accounted to have financially harmed the state amounting to hundreds of billions rupiah.
In line with the KPK's policy, a comprehensive announcement about the case's construction, articles, and the individuals designated as suspects will be made after the investigation is completed. The investigators have currently imposed travel bans on two individuals, one from the state institution and the other from a private entity.
