TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The light rail transit LRT Jabodebek aims to reach a total of 27 million passengers this year, which means 93,906 users on average during weekdays and 40,080 users on weekends. The optimism stems from significant growth recorded in 2024, with a total of 21,055,870 passengers.
The highest daily record of LRT Jabodebek was noted on November 26, 2024, with 94,172 passengers. The upward trend is cited as evidence in the LRT as a main transportation mode for the people of Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi.
"The growth proves the increasing acceptance that LRT Jabodebek is a reliable mode of transportation. We are committed to improving the comfort and punctuality of the services, and to reaching more users in 2025," said the Executive Vice President of LRT Jabodebek, Mochamad Purnomosidi, in Jakarta, on Monday, February 24, 2025.
LRT Jabodebek readies several strategies to achieve its targets, including by adding more train sets, increasing the number of daily trips, and reducing travel time and headway to accelerate the frequency of travel.
The light rail is also planning to strengthen LRT Jabodebek’s integration with other modes of transportation—such as feeder cars—to facilitate public access to LRT stations.
LRT Jabodebek also strives to improve user comfort, with several initiatives, including name changes on LRT stations, women-only car on weekdays, and crowd detectors, implemented throughout 2024.
As of February 23, 2025, the number of users of LRT Jabodebek has reached 3,812,580 people, with the daily trend continuing to grow. With the implemented strategies, management is optimistic that the targeted daily goal can be achieved. LRT Jabodebek is expected to become the backbone of public transportation increasingly favored by urban communities.
