TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati reported a notable rise in state revenue as of March 2025.
According to data from the Ministry of Finance, state revenue reached Rp516.1 trillion that month, amounting to 17.2 percent of the 2025 State Budget (APBN) target set at Rp3,005.1 trillion. Sri noted that this figure marked a significant jump from February’s numbers.
"The revenue in February was Rp316.9 trillion. So, in just one month, in March alone, the state revenue increased by Rp200 trillion," she said during the APBN KiTa press conference at the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
The growth was mainly driven by tax revenue, which includes taxes, customs, and excise duties, totaling Rp400.1 trillion by the end of March. Meanwhile, non-tax state revenue (PNBP) reached Rp115.9 trillion.
Sri also highlighted the sharp increase in tax revenue, which reached Rp322.6 trillion in March, or 14.7 percent of the annual target. In comparison, tax revenue in February was only Rp 187.8 trillion.
"The increase reflects a positive trend. What has been a concern regarding tax revenue, which was under pressure in January-February, has now shown recovery," she added.
She also contrasted this with the same period in 2024, when tax revenue experienced a contraction, suggesting the current rise signals an encouraging recovery.
On the expenditure side, government spending also rose significantly. By March, it had reached Rp620.3 trillion, up from Rp348.1 trillion in February. As a result, the first quarter of 2025 recorded a budget deficit of Rp104 trillion, equivalent to 0.43 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
